She was certified in Reality Therapy in 1992 and continued her studies to become a certified instructor for the William Glasser Institute. Since then, she has trained hundreds of social workers, therapists, teachers, and administrators in these ideas. Choice theory is about empowering people to navigate the sometimes difficult course of life---how to get the most out of the circumstances life provides them. These are incredibly powerful ideas with equal application to one’s work and personal lives.

Kim OlverKim’s vision is a world where everyone gets what they need as a young child, is nurtured through school, lives true to their desires, finds meaningful work and develops loving, supportive relationships. Her mission is to teach Choice Theory concepts to all who are willing to hear so that individuals learn how to meet their five basic needs, without interfering with other people meeting theirs. Consequently, they can then teach others what they have learned and spread the word. Through the application to her own personal and professional life, Kim knows these principles are extremely effective and she is passionate about sharing them with others.

She has presented workshops and training for non-profits and corporations on topics such as managing diversity, working with difficult people, stress management, choice theory/reality therapy, quality schools, and relationship enhancement, among others. Kim is an approved international instructor for the William Glasser Institute in California. As an adjunct professor, she has taught Choice Theory and Reality Therapy to master’s level university students. She has maintained a private counseling practice and in 2004, decided to move into the field of coaching, where there are a greater number of individuals more highly motivated to make the changes they seek.

Kim can work with you to empower your staff and clients and propel your organization to the next level.
